Perceptions of Higher Education in the Inland Empire
At GIA, our goal is to empower students, parents, educational institutions, and community partners by providing comprehensive tools and resources. Our focus is on identifying and enhancing educational equity, minimizing transition barriers, and catering to the diverse student population in the Inland Empire.
Although this study was part of a collaborative effort with UCR and CSUSB and focused on increasing enrollment in four-year universities, it also included participants’ perceptions of two-year community colleges.
Explore the highlights of our latest research on higher education perceptions in the Inland Empire, accompanied by user-friendly tools for data comprehension, stakeholder presentation, and effective implementation of positive changes. About This Study
The IE Perceptions of Higher Education is a mixed methods research project aimed at identifying potential opportunities to increase regional postsecondary enrollment by better understanding how Inland Empire residents view postsecondary education, including the perceived college/university options, values, and barriers.
We recruited a representative sample of San Bernardino and Riverside County residents by age, race, ethnicity, income, education. Study participants consisted of young adult potential students (ages 18-35, not currently enrolled in college/university) and their families (ages 36-65 with a child between the ages of 13-25). The quantitative component consists of 740 potential students and parents surveyed via SurveyMonkey, and the qualitative component consists of 30 potential students and parents who participated in a 3-day confidential interactive online study.
