00:34:31 Becky Sumbera: I would agree Carlos, working groups are the key for inclusiveness.
00:35:46 Diana Fox: one more thought that only 1 student rep may be intimidating for that 1 student and would recommend 2. sorry to have to go to another meeting. thank you all
00:36:16 Michael Wiafe: Great points!
00:37:27 Michael Wiafe: “Include at least one K-12 school district, at least one University of California campus, at least one California State University campus, and at least one California Community College district.”
00:38:51 Becky Sumbera: Could the one student have a working group of all K-12, CC, and University students? This would allow a student voice but from many.
00:40:09 Aileen Dinkjian: What role do you see for non profit private universities such as the University of La Verne, which has a land of educational opportunities with our launch of a new College of Health and Community Well-Being. We are creating pipelines with high school students to enter our programs with the needs for nurses and pharm techs. We serve them the same community essentially as it relates to supporting workforce development.
00:42:16 Becky Sumbera: I think the CSU & UCR would need to invite them to a working groups for input and participation. We want to be inclusive as we all contribute to our community.
00:43:41 Louie Rodriguez: To build on Michael and Becky’s comments, maybe there could be 1-2 students on the steering committee, student representation on working groups, and a parallel student advisory committee.
00:44:35 Becky Sumbera: I agree Summer.
00:44:58 Aileen Dinkjian: Yes on the high desert representation!
00:45:17 Michael Wiafe: I like that idea Louie, students should be part of this throughout the structure
00:45:33 Beth Higbee: I do that the requirement to implement the Recover with Equity goals will be helpful in keeping us on the equity path.
00:47:14 Beth Higbee: I agree Louie, the student voice piece would be very powerful. And, we have been doing this in our region, we have a good foundation underway.
00:47:33 Damien O’Farrell: Love the comments about representation and making sure to include CBO’s to keep equity work in focus. I’d also be interested in solidifying a strong vetting tool that helps identify what types of CBO’s might be best positioned to play this role.
00:47:39 Becky Sumbera: I think the structure is Excellent. I think the details we are talking about are on the working groups or Advisory groups.
00:48:11 Alex Avila: Great job Carlos. ? ?
00:48:28 Marvin Espinoza: Looking forward to the next round and engagement
00:49:37 Jackie Melendez: Great job, Carlos !!! ?
00:49:59 Alex Avila: We can include the Rialto school district who almost never get highlighted in these types of platforms. I will be bring this up next week.
00:50:04 Rose Gonzalez: Will there be enough funding for all 4?
00:51:09 Lorena Corona: I think the structure is on the right path. I want to know if there will be a structured way to include the wisdom of groups like Umoja and Puente Program?
00:52:31 Alex Avila: i am part of UMOJA at Valley
00:53:20 Carol Tsushima: Will there be concentrated efforts to resource map those efforts already occurring in the region to identify gaps and the areas we should be placing efforts/funding/energies?
00:54:01 pam robinson: How are we including Early Care and Education groups?
00:54:47 Lorena Corona: Thank you
00:54:54 Becky Sumbera: Excellent point, this would be the in-depth I was talking about.
00:55:33 Jackie Melendez: I have to jump off! Great meeting. I am super excited to be a part of this group.
